For more than thirty years, he has been involved in the most important insolvency proceedings in the country, even representing the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial (Business Coordination Council) in the drafting commission of the current Ley de Concursos Mercantiles (Mexican Bankruptcy Act).  Gerardo Ramírez Ornelas has been a professor at several prestigious law schools in the country. Presently, he is the head professor of the Commercial Insolvency Program in the Master's Program in Private Law at the Escuela Libre de Derecho.
